Reaching Out to Customers with Disabilities: An On-Line ADA Course for Businesses

The Department of Justice has created a wonderful on-line course to help you see how your business can become more accessible and welcoming to people with disabilities. Reaching Out to Customers with Disabilities: An On-Line ADA Course for Businesses explains in ten short lessons how the ADA applies to businesses.

Traveling by Air? Be Prepared!

After a less than relaxing trip, an AABN member was informed by the FTA that in the future if ever you have difficulty in an airport this is what to do:

1) Ask an airline staff person for a complaint resolution official (CRO). That person is to be produced immediately in person or by phone to resolve the problem.

2) If they refuse or give any excuse, call a hot line at the FTA (1-800-778-4838) who immediatley contacts a duty officer from the DOJ who will resolve the problem in real time seven days a week from 7AM to 11:00PMEST.

Please see the Department of Transportation publication 14 CFR Part 382 Nondiscrimination on the Basis of Disability in Air Travel for more information on your rights. This PDF includes a complaint form.

You can also see the DOT Fact sheet for a breakdown on the rights of people with disabilities when it comes to airline travel.
